INSIDE SOCIETY: Guardian Angels Luncheon Raises Over $550,000 For Holtz Children’s Hospital

A dreamy, Bohemian, Etro runway show — direct from Milan — was the pièce de résistance during one of the favorite events of the Miami society season. The 17th Annual Guardians of the Children Luncheon benefiting Holtz Children’s Hospital was held at the JW Marriott Marquis in Downtown Miami with over 500 supporters in attendance. The name, Holtz Children’s Hospital, commemorates the landmark gift of the Fana Holtz Foundation. The hospital’s mission is to provide a single high standard of medical care for all children including those who do not have the resources to pay. The lovely Fana Holtz was there, bubbly and warm as always, the driving force behind the organization’s efforts. Also there, Keith R. Tribble, Jackson Health Foundation Chief Executive Officer and Silvia Rios Fortun, Chairman, Jackson Health Foundation and President of the Guardian Angels. I was a guest of the delightful Juan Lopez, the beloved VP and GM of Saks Fifth Avenue Dadeland.

The event was hosted by Jackson Health Foundation’s Guardian Angels in partnership with Saks Fifth Avenue Dadeland, which put on the spectacular Etro fashion show, featuring the Spring/Summer 2016 runway collection with 36 looks. This was the first time it was shown after its debut during Milan Fashion Week in September. The show was produced by Konrad Janus, Saks Fifth Avenue Dadeland’s genius new Marketing Director, who took us backstage for an exclusive sneak peek at the preparations. The hair and makeup directives came from Etro so the Danny Jelaca team created knotted chignons with loose, wispy hair, like dancers. The Saks Fifth Avenue makeup team added gold tones with lots of shimmer on models’ cheeks and temples and eye shadows in metallic tones. The effect was ethereal and nostalgic!

The luncheon raised over $550,000 that will be used to support the Holtz Children’s Hospital Child Life Program. The Child Life Program is comprised of healthcare professionals who play a critical role in the treatment and recovery of every child that visits the hospital. They are trained specialists who use therapeutic and recreational play to help each child understand their illness and medical procedures.
