To sleekly navigate the rough waters of the Miami society season, a golden glow is a key weapon in the grooming arsenal of every chic socialista, what with all those skin-baring gowns and cocktail dresses. That’s why the grand opening of Boca Tanning Club on Brickell Avenue was so exciting. Aside from the advantage of finally being able to have a Hollywood-celeb-worthy VersaSpa spray tan in five – yes, five – minutes, the location is close to everyone.
Owner Zurami Pascual is a well-known socialite and beloved philanthropist and as always, was clad in Gabriella Arango Couture. Much like Pascual’s bigger-than-life personality, the highly-anticipated opening bash was over-the-top spectacular.
Close to 1000 VIPs were entertained by mermaids, men on 12-foot tall stilts and a dozen dancers whose bodies were painted by Miami based artist CJay. Throughout the evening, a series of performances delighted the crowd who braved a reaaaally cold, windy Miami night outdoors, only one block from the waters of Biscayne Bay. Fire dancers warmed the crowd, as did a special appearance by rapper Shakespeare, who wrote a song especially for the event about empowering women. Pascual credits her late mother, Mimi, as the driving force behind the opening of the salon.
Partygoers, many draped in fabulous furs, got a tour of the elegant 2,200 square foot salon, decorated with an exotic-rainforest-meets-Indonesia motif. Artist Carlos A. Navarro designed and created the wall murals.
And if you thought it couldn’t get any better, Boca Tanning Club Brickell is open 24 hours to accommodate even the most hard-core socialista’s hectic travel and shopping schedule.
