Chic at Galas: Shorter Hems Are Long on Style

Miami’s society VIPs tend to bend the rules every so often… because they can. Especially, when it comes to fashion.

Don’t get me wrong. I do love the entrance-making properties of a fabulous ball gown but after endless months of gala after gala, dragging 20 yards of silk taffeta around somewhat loses its magic.

Socialistas who grow weary nearing the end of season, come up with sleeker gowns and many even go cocktail length like we see here but always, super glam.

This shorter dressing for black tie galas is something that is now completely on trend among Miami’s most chic women. Especially acceptable at the more playful galas – deemed so by the location (poolside… the sand… the grounds of the zoo… ) or theme (anything with the word “tropical” in it).

With spring around the corner, colors get brighter, fabrics get lighter, hems go higher. It’s just so much easier to dance the night away when you can actually kick up your heels.

These trendsetters are always elegant, appropriate and absolutely ooze style.
