Usually, if famed divorce attorney A. J. Barranco summons you, you can surmise it’s not going to be pretty. Unless it’s one of his many fabulously chic Miami parties. A consummate host, A.J. likes to party as hard as he works. And he does so, quite elegantly in his sprawling, historic, 1940s home in Coconut Grove.
Barranco is one of the top divorce attorneys in the country, with clients that include George Steinbrenner’s daughter-in-law, Hulk Hogan’s wife, Saudi Arabian royalty, professional athletes and the wealthy elite from Europe, Asia and Latin America. However, if you’re not on the opposite side of a divorce proceeding you’ll meet a charmer who is a wine and art connoisseur with a great sense of humor and a zest for a good party.
On this night, the social, business and legal communities came together seamlessly. It was amusing to overhear some of the hellos taking place in between the clinking of cocktail glasses. Several divorce clients thanked Barranco enthusiastically; another two guests greeted the particular judges on their divorce cases and, smiling, spoke of the positive outcomes. It was obviously, party time.
The expansive poolside terrace was appointed with tall tables covered in a black and white graphic print, punctuated by bright red roses — a striking backdrop for great food. Dancing is also a must at any of Barranco’s parties and despite a few sprinkles of rain, we did just that, way into the night.
