Since it always sells out, you’ll want to get your tickets for the 59th annual Vizcaya Museum and Gardens Vizcaya Ball. It’s one of the most spectacular events of the Miami society season, primarily because of its magical setting — what was once the private home of millionaire industrialist, Miami pioneer and internationally-renowned party-master, James Deering. It’s like stepping back in time to the early 1900s. Especially with this year’s them: “A Return to the Gilded Age and All That Glitters.” I. Can’t. Wait. Glitter, after all, is my favorite color.
Glamour couple, Christy and David Martin, hosted the kickoff event for the ball at Glass. Christy, sleek and chic in a Ronny Kobo dress and Valentino heels is a very active philanthropist who is also on the Vizcaya Ball committee. David is president and owner of Terra Group, so it was only natural to gather over 100 Vizcaya supporters at one of his company’s breathtaking properties. Glass, the shimmery, 18-story tower located on Ocean Drive, is one of the newest residences on South Beach designed by visionary architect, Rene Gonzalez.
This year’s Vizcaya Ball Honorary Chair is Swanee DiMare. Other ball committee members are Suzy Buckley, Lesli Ann Brown, Cathy L. Jones, Roxana Garciga, Sonia Gibson, Linda Levy Goldberg, Nicole Lozano, Christy Martin, Bill Meyersohn, James W. Murphy and Alexa Wolman, many of whom were at the kickoff. The mission of the ball committee is to raise funds to preserve and protect Vizcaya Museum and Gardens for the community and future to come.
The upcoming Vizcaya Ball is Saturday, November 21. The black-tie event will include a stylish cocktail reception; catering by Thierry’s Catering and Event Design; entertainment by The Chase Band; a sensational silent auction and much more.
Individual tickets start at $750.00; tables of 10 guests go for $7,500. Tickets and tables can be purchased online. For more information and sponsorship opportunities, visit www.vizcayaball.org or email events@vizcaya.org
