Design Miami’s VIP Preview Kicks Off Art Basel Week

Design Miami’s invitation-only VIP preview, held early the week of Art Basel, redied art and design lovers for the staggering number of art and social activities to come. This was the seventh year for Design Miami/ which has become the global forum to come to for design. The most influential gallerists, collectors, curators, designers and critics from around the world come together in Miami in celebration of design culture and commerce. It occurs at the same time as the Art Basel fairs in Miami, Florida in the U.S. each December and Basel, Switzerland each June. Design Miami/ has quickly become the premier venue for collecting, exhibiting, discussing and creating collectible design. But it’s also a great place to people and fashion watch considering the eclectic crowd that’s in the city for both art fairs and for the hundreds of art-related events, comes from 150 countries all over the world.

This year’s fair drew a record 29,000 visitors and a significant increase in sales throughout its six-day run on Miami Beach. The show was attended by notable collectors, museum directors and personalities including André Balasz, Naomi Campbell, Sean Combs, Lord Norman Foster, Francesca von Habsburg, Zaha Hadid, Maja Hoffmann, George Lindemann, Eugenio Lopez, Alberto Mugrabi, Abby Rosen, Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld, and Don and Mera Rubell owners of the Rubell Collection in Miami.
