No one I know has more fun than Iran Issa-Khan. On this night, she was particularly in her glory, surrounded by adoring friends and fans of all ages at the book signing for the re-issue of her coffee table book of photographs, Iran Issa-Khan: Photography.

The elegant 162-page book is a survey of her work which focuses on nature. Issa-Khan shoots tight close-ups of sculptural forms, from shells and corals to flowers, then blows up these intimate details to fantastical sizes, shifting the viewer’s perspective of seemingly ordinary objects. The tome has quickly become a collector’s item.

The book signing was at the sales office for One Thousand Museum, Pritzker Prize-winning architect, Zaha Hadid’s first residential skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere, across from the Perez Art Museum Miami. The internationally-renowned Hadid also happens to be Issa-Khan’s dear friend of many years who wrote the foreword to her book.

The gregarious Issa-Khan’s illustrious career began in fashion, where she photographed supermodels and celebrities for international magazines including “Vogue,” “Elle” and “W.” In 2000, she transitioned to shooting different beauties, these coming from nature, which sparked interest in top art collectors such as Emilio and Gloria Estefan, Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia and Paloma Picasso.
