Basler Spring & Couture Collections: Bloomie’s Aventura

Basler Creative Director Brian Rennie & Editor Daisy Olivera
I had the pleasure of co-hosting the Basler Spring & Couture Collections 2014 runway show with Basler’s Creative Director, the fabulous Brian Rennie — in a first-time exclusive appearance — at Bloomingdale’s Aventura! Brian was Escada’s Head Designer for over 20 years. We met about eight years ago when I was writing the society column for the Miami Herald and he had a private dinner and fashion show at the Delano Hotel on South Beach. I wore his gowns for many galas I covered. He’s just divine!

Rennie presented a runway show of his Spring and Couture Collections 2014, bringing in dazzling couture gowns especially for the show. Everyone had a blast as I interviewed him on the runway and he commented on each of the looks and explained about the intricate hours of hand work on the couture gowns. The presentation included day, to cocktails to gala looks — I’m wearing one of my favorites from the safari-inspired “Sansibar” collection.

The Scottish-born Rennie studied fashion at the famous Royal College of Art in London and since taking over the design helm at Basler over two years ago, has made his mark at the fashion house, which was founded in 1936 in Berlin, Germany. With over 80 stores worldwide, it takes a creative vision and understanding like Rennie’s, to design clothing for women that is practical, feminine, on trend and glamorous whether you’re in a cropped pant and zebra striped shirt or in a dazzling beaded gown on a red carpet.

A wide range of celebs of different ages adore Rennie’s creations. He dresses young Hollywood stars like Kaley Cuoco and Maria Menounos, designed a wedding dress for Jennifer Lopez and dressed Kim Basinger for the Academy Awards. Even fashion icon Princess Diana was among his clients.

You must check out the Basler collection and Bloomingdale’s Aventura Personal Shopper, Godfrey del Rio, can help you put together a flawless wardrobe for the demanding Miami society season! (305) 792-1000
