New Novel! “South Beach Star” By James Cubby

South Beach Star is being touted as a modern day Valley of the Dolls. For those of us who call author James Cubby a dear friend, it’s delicious reading because we know everything he’s seen and heard!

The beloved Cubby is a pioneer on the South Beach nightlife coverage scene. He was on the front lines of SoBe party reporting, documenting it as the sparkle grew and as it was blowing up worldwide.

Cubby’s first novel gives an unprecedented, raw view of the double-edged sword that covering nightlife on the American Riviera can be.

THE STORY:
Life is sweet for Jamie Kidd, a thirty-something writer, until he discovers that his lover has left town after cleaning out the bank account and leaving Jamie heartbroken, penniless, and somewhat suicidal. Jamie escapes to South Beach where he finds success and quasi-celebrity as a nightlife columnist for the South Beach Star, a weekly tabloid that covers the trendy SoBe scene. Jamie, throws himself into his fabulous new lifestyle, mingling with beautiful, shallow fashionistas, famous models, and wealthy jet-setters. His coveted lifestyle masks an out-of-control roller-coaster ride of late-night parties and photo-ops. Like many before him, Jamie falls victim to his fast lifestyle.
