Kalla & Christofle Collaboration and The Art of the Table

Time to get your holiday posh on! Imagine how my head spun, when I learned that Christofle, the ultimate in French silver artistry, had collaborated with Kalla, a one-of-a-kind, curated bouquet service that brings floral couture to your door. The result is the lush Serge & Jane Bouquet, named for super-sultry, 1970s glam couple, English actress Jane Birkin and French singer-songwriter, Serge Gainsbourg. (For those of you Hermes Birkin fans, she’s the actress who inspired the elusive, exclusive luxury handbag.)

Anyone who really knows me knows I’m a maniac about good manners, etiquette (big surprise) and table settings that show you’ve made an effort, even for simple dinners. To further this type of lovely behavior, Justin Trabert, Christofle’s National Brand Ambassador, created and launched a modern etiquette experience called “Art of the Table.”

This experience aims to educate about the importance of knowing the fine points of entertaining with ease and grace. Better yet, I had a chance to enjoy it at a lavish, press dinner at the very glam, new Ritz Carlton Hotel in Bal Harbour recently. Naturally, the imposing table was set with assorted Christofle silver must-have accessories and several Serge & Jane bouquets. Divinely glam.

The charming Trabert, regaled us with entertaining, historical details of different dinner etiquette-related customs, while giving important pointers about table settings and appropriate behavior. Like why the knife blade should point towards the plate, not your dinner companions so as not to offend them or have them think you want to stab them. Oops! Historically knives were also used to kill and hunt, not just at the dinner table. Ouch! Bet you’ll remember that next time you’re setting your table.

BOUQUET DETAILS:

The Serge & Jane bouquet is only available for a limited time. Unique and captivating just like the bohemian actors’ love affair, the arrangement blooms with brilliant Mondial Roses, white Phalaenopsis Orchids and playful Green Ball Dianthus. It’s housed in a silver-plated Vertigo ice bucket, designed by Andree Putman, the grande dame of French design. Made in France, its asymmetrical ring appeals to both modern and traditional aesthetics. Retail: $750  www.Kalla.com
