Voya Miami Celebrity Domino Night: $400K for Amigos for Kids

In just over a decade, “Voya Miami Celebrity Domino Night presented by Bacardí USA,”
has become the most popular fundraiser of the society set. It’s all about colorful “Miami chic” attire; short, summery dresses and no black tie for the men. We’ve come to think of it as the unofficial close to our society season; one last bash before traveling for the summer.

More than 1,800 supporters attended the event at Jungle Island, raising over $400,000 to benefit “Amigos for Kids” for the numerous programs benefiting underprivileged children and families in South Florida. “Amigos for Kids” once again partnered with their 10-year title sponsor, Voya Financial (formerly ING U.S.). Other sponsors included Wal-Mart and The Lincoln Motor Company.

The evening began in the courtyard at Jungle Island with Miami’s top eateries providing small plates of their best dishes. These included Baptist Health South Florida, Café Pilon, Cancun Grill, Edda’s Cake Designs, Goya Foods, Italy Today, Jojo Tea, Jungle Island, Los Ranchos, Mena Catering, Paella’s R Us, Papa John’s Pizza, Pasta Factory, Patagonia, Shula’s Steakhouse and Sushi Maki and including a Bacardí USA open bar.

Then it was upstairs to the ballroom for live entertainment and to the domino tables for many a heated domino match. Grammy-winning, salsa music legend Willy Chirino and world-renowned Miami Heat deejay, DJ Irie put on a high-energy show that kept the crowd dancing into the night.

The best end-of-party munchies — my fave Cuban pastries and Mini Medianoche sandwiches — were provided by the iconic Versailles Restaurant. A perfect Miami night!
