Gala Chic: Classic Styles, Modern Interpretation

In this Chic to Chic, there’s nothing like a glamorous black tie ball and Miami has oodles of them. The socialistas who stand out, make dressing for a gala, in a well-thought-out gown and jewels, seem effortless. We notice that the best-dressed don’t go overboard, no excessive, vulgar cleavage, nothing too tacky-tight… They stay within the classics in color and design, yet choose a modern twist. These Chic to Chic favorites were photographed at the Diamond Ball to benefit Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Our cover girl is Christy Martin with legs up to there, wearing a pearl gray and black leopard print Roberto Cavalli. You have to be this sleek and statuesque to flawlessly wear Cavalli’s dangerously-clingy, low-cut gowns. Anything other than that is a fashion crime that I don’t want to witness; Real Housewives of Miami cast member Adriana de Moura has a very refined eye for fashion. She’s wearing a one-shoulder black Narciso Rodriguez with limited edition earrings designed by Brazilian design duo, the Campana Brothers exclusively for H. Stern; Maria Morgan is bold in a lipstick red, glittery, beaded, scoop-neck Aidan Mattox gown. Major impact meets simmering elegance; and finally, Barbara Berlani Spring positively shimmers in a red-carpet-ready, beaded champagne, off-the-shoulder gown by Miami’s own favorite couturier, Rene Ruiz.

Well done ladies. We approve.
