Zanotti’s Only 2012 U.S. Appearance: Saks Fifth Avenue, Bal Harbour

It was a record-setting day at Saks Fifth Avenue in Bal Harbour Shops during shoe designer Giuseppe Zanotti’s personal appearance to present his new Holiday/Resort collection. Not only was it his only appearance in the United States this year but sales, attendance and press coverage broke all records in his company’s history, according to the Zanotti press office.

Zanotti’s appearance is part of the exciting 10022-SHOE, which will make the shoe salon at Saks Bal Harbour the biggest and the best. (Trust me, you won’t want to miss this!) Bal Harbour VP-GM Deborah Slack was on hand adding her own glamour to the Zanotti event. We’ll keep you posted and announce the unveiling in November!

Now on to the man himself. From the reaction of the women shaking with excitement and anticipation in the 10022-SHOE salon at Saks Fifth Avenue, Bal Harbour, you’d have thought it was George Clooney walking into the place. Instead, it was the delightfully dashing Giuseppe Zanotti — even better because Zanotti came bearing shoes. Namely, his new Holiday/ Resort collection, which is breathtaking. Women clamored to get their photo taken with Zanotti, they bought shoes and waited in long lines to have him sign the soles, which he did, armed with two dozen colored markers. One woman bought five pair of Zanotti shoes and a gorgeous ivory leather clutch and asked Zanotti to do a little sketch on it. He did. Sigh.

The utterly charming Zanotti creates extravagant, over-the-top footwear so extremely beautiful, that you shouldn’t really call them a pedestrian word like shoes. His celebrity client list reads like an international Who’s Who from the worlds of television, film and music. His fans include Charlize Theron, Eva Longoria, Sharon Stone and Angelina Jolie. And fittingly perhaps, the man who has designed glamorous footwear for the likes of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Pink and even Justin Bieber and Kanye West (yes, there are men’s shoes and sneakers as well) is treated like quite the rock star himself. Speaking of West, he made his own private appearance at Saks Bal Harbour to visit with his pal Zanotti.

Late in the afternoon of Zanotti’s visit, the YoungArts season was kicked off with a VIP cocktail reception for the supporters from Young Arts. YoungArts identifies and supports the next generation of artists in the visual, literary and performing arts, and contributes to the cultural vitality of the nation by investing in the artistic development of talented young artists. The cocktail was hosted by ultra-chic power couple and Gala Chairs for the Young Arts gala, Marile and Jorge Luis Lopez. He, the noted attorney and she, the CFO of the law firm.

The lively shopping event at Saks transitioned from a DJ to classical guitar to end the evening on a lovely note. Ben Pila, 2002 YoungArts Winner in classical guitar, performed and a pair of coveted Zanotti shoes was raffled off during the cocktail. Honorary Chairs for the Young Arts Gala are Placido Domingo and Mikhail Baryshnikov.

It’s a not-to-be-missed gala on January 12, 2013.
