Miami City Ballet Opening Night Oct 19 Features “Project Pointe”

Our triumphant Miami City Ballet returns Friday, October 19 with this season’s opening night performance at the Adrienne Arsht Center at 8:00 PM.

Program 1 is an eclectic mix of works starting with Les Patineurs, which is being performed for the first time in 12 years by Miami City Ballet; Piazolla Caldera, a tango-flavored work with music by classical tango master Astor Piazolla and finally, Apollo, George Balanchine’s first masterwork that transformed 20th century ballet.

On the same night you can participate in the “Project Pointe” silent auction, a unique fundraising event conceived and designed by principal dancer, Jennifer Carlynn Kronenberg to benefit Miami City Ballet’s crucial “Toe Shoe Fund.”

A message from Miami City Ballet Principal Dancer, Jennifer Carlynn Kronenberg:

“Pointe shoes are the most significant tool that as dancers we rely upon to perform at our best. They are deceivingly fragile and no two pairs are the same.  Miami City Ballet’s Toe Shoe Fund initiative raises critical funds to ensure that our dancers are equipped with a shoe supply abundant enough for the ever increasing demands of our rehearsals and performances.

Since we each wear our pointe shoes out differently, pointe shoes inevitably become a part of a dancer’s unique “footprint.”  Every “dead” pair has served a ballerina in its own special way.  There is no better way to make a ballerina smile than to give her a brand new pair of shoes — crafted to her own specifications, helping to keep her feet protected, supported and injury free. Please help to keep us smiling and on our toes!  Your support of MCB’s Toe Shoe Fund is personally appreciated by each and every one of us!”
