Fairchild’s Gala in the Garden: A Night in Paradise

You cannot beat a gorgeous Miami night, especially when the setting is Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, under a sparkling moon for the yearly “Gala in the Garden.” Just breathtaking.

Over 400 of Miami’s social elite began the evening with cocktails in the Visitor Center’s patio where the centerpiece is the Star Ellipse Mosaic, a botanical mosaic executed by the Sicis Company in Ravenna, Italy.

The Paradise Found theme was a given. With so many black tie galas held inside hotel ballrooms during the society season, it is absolute paradise to be outdoors in this unmatched, lush tropical setting. In keeping with the spirit of the garden, it’s become a tradition that many of the ladies wear fabulously colorful or floral gowns.

After cocktails, guests strolled over to an expansive white tent overlooking Pandanus Lake for dinner and dancing. Lasso the Moon created the magenta and purple décor and catered the amazing menu while Soul Survivor kept us dancing into the wee hours. An evening rainstorm during dinner added even more magic as it fell on the illuminated lake. Sigh!

This is the gala’s 19th year and is Fairchild’s biggest fundraiser, which supports the garden’s mission in science education, conservation and horticultural sciences in existence since 1938.
